PETRONAS on Sunday launched its range of premium grade automotive engine oils in Indonesia, officially entering the country’s lucrative lubricants market. The move into this downstream activity is expected to further enhance PETRONAS’ presence in Indonesia, where the corporation is already an active player in the upstream sector of the country’s oil and gas industry.
PETRONAS will initially market its range of SYNTIUM and SPRINTA lubricants in Indonesia through a newly established wholly owned subsidiary, PT PETRONAS Niaga Indonesia, whose formation was also launched Sunday. PT PETRONAS Niaga Indonesia has appointed a network of local key distributors who will be supplying the products to Indonesian customers via workshops, automotive service centres and similar establishments. Other range of lubricants will be introduced later.
The range of the SYNTIUM engine oils to be made available in Indonesia includes the fully synthetic multi-grade SYNTIUM 3000 5W-40, the fully synthetic SYNTIUM 1000 15W-50, the semi-synthetic SYNTIUM 800 15W-50, as well as the semi-synthetic SYNTIUM 800 10W-30, which is specially formulated for smaller engine capacity cars. All products will be available in 1-litre and 4-litre packs.
All products in the SYNTIUM range have been developed using race-proven Formula One technology through PETRONAS’ involvement in and close collaboration with the SAUBER PETRONAS Formula One team. They have also been extensively tested and proven in field, racetrack and laboratory environments. Each product exceeds the latest requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (API) SL international performance standards, currently the highest performance benchmark for gasoline engine oils. As a result, the SYNTIUM range offers customers the ultimate engine performance and protection even under the most extreme and demanding driving conditions.
The SPRINTA range includes high-performance lubricants for motorcycle engines, including the SPRINTA 2T and the SPRINTA 4T. The SPRINTA lubricants have been developed with the technology and experience gathered from various PETRONAS’ motor sports’ programmes, the test beds for these products.
Apart from Indonesia, PETRONAS’ lubricants are already available in China and Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Sudan, Malta and South Africa.
