PETRONAS CLARIFIES STATUS OF OVERSEAS OPERATIONS

Following inconsistencies in reports carried by newswire services yesterday and several newspapers today on the status of PETRONAS’ overseas operations amid heightened concerns following the recent incidents in the United States, PETRONAS wishes to clarify that its operations in Sudan and Pakistan have not been affected.

However, PETRONAS is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of its employees in these areas and elsewhere.

As a precautionary measure, PETRONAS has instructed that spouses and family members of employees in Sudan and Pakistan return to Malaysia. Spouses and family members of employees in Sudan are returning in batches, while those of employees in Pakistan have all returned.
