The PETRONAS’ range of SYNTIUM synthetic lubricants, will initially be made available in Nagoya and Tokyo and subsequently to other parts of Japan by Magna International Co Ltd. It will be distributing SYNTIUM 5000 SM 0W30, SYNTIUM 3000 SM 5W40, SYNTIUM 1000 SM 10W40 and SYNTIUM 800 SM 10W40 through one-stop car centre networks in Japan.
For PETRONAS, the debut of its range of premium products in Japan provides an excellent opportunity to tap into a vibrant lubricants market that is currently the fourth largest in the world.
All products in the SYNTIUM range have been specially engineered using race-proven Formula One technology developed through PETRONAS’ involvement in the sport. The products have also been tested and proven in field, racetrack and laboratory environments to deliver exceptional engine power, protection and fuel economy.
All SYNTIUM products meet or exceed the American Petroleum Institute (API) SM international performance standards, currently the highest performance benchmark for gasoline engine oils. The products also meet or exceed the stringent performance standards set by leading global engine manufacturers and automotive companies. As such, the SYNTIUM range offers the sophisticated Japanese customers the ultimate engine performance and protection, even under the most extreme and demanding driving conditions.
Apart from Japan, the PETRONAS’ range of SYNTIUM synthetic lubricants are also available in China, South Africa, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Switzerland Liechtenstein, Hong Kong, Macau, Sudan, Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines as well as Malaysia, where it currently enjoy a significant market share.
The launch marks another significant milestone in the long term business relationships between PETRONAS and Japan. The Group first paved its way into Japan in 1975 with the shipment of Malaysian Crude Oil into the country. Today PETRONAS is one of the largest LNG suppliers to Japan, supplying about 23 per cent of the country’s LNG requirement.
